While these trying times can lead to a lot of uncertainty and anxiety, it can also bring out the best in people and lead to new innovations that can change the future. Inspired to find our own way to contribute to the fight against COVID-19, we leveraged our ability to engineer tools to solve everyday problems to design a solution to help decrease the spread of germs.
We would like to introduce you to FoldAwayHook, our 7th crowdfunding campaign. The FoldAwayHook can be used to open doors, freezer sliders at the grocery store, push buttons on ATMs, checkout devices and at gas stations keeping your hands off potentially contaminated surfaces. It features an antimicrobial brass hook which folds into the tool when not in use. Two internal Teflon side guards ensure that the hook does not touch the body of the tool when storing into the handle.
We will be running this as a 20-day campaign and are leveraging our USA based manufacturers that we have worked with on past projects to ensure fast delivery.

Updated Packaging for Early 2019 (New)
Above is a sample of the new packaging which will reduce the amount of plastic used by 95% (compared the plastic clamshell). The four station sealing machine has arrived and looks great in the garage despite taking up a good amount of room on the floor. I am looking forward to getting the initial production run of cards and plastic to try it out for EverRatchet and for some new products that we may be working on hint hint.
Carry Case/Sheath (New)
I have been working on this with a local company and we have gotten 95% of the way there:
Closure - We are looking at using magnets instead of Velcro
Corners on Flap - Currently working on a way to keep the corners of the flap down.
Tactical Clip – I have sourced a nice tactical clip with loads of spring force on the closure mechanism, extremely happy with its finish and how it fits with the overall look of the sheath.
The updated description: The case itself is made from sport webbing, has a pocket for the tool, an elastic pocket to hold an additional bit/flint, will shut with magnets and has a heavy-duty tactical clip to attach it to your keys, pant loop, purse or backpack.

I hope everyone has been doing well, glad to see continued positive comments on EverRatchet, nice to see everyone enjoying them! Updates on some open items below:
Win a Gold EverRatchet – Two Days Left to Enter (New)
When the BackerKit survey went out we had 100x gold colored titanium EverRatchets available as Add-Ons which sold out in a matter of minutes. There are 5x remaining units that we will be given away for free on me (including domestic/international shipping)!
How to Win One (1x) of Five (5x) Gold EverRatchets
1) Take a picture of your EverRatchet and post on your favorite social media channel.
2) Be sure to tag us @GearInfusion and #EverRatchet so we can add you to the giveaway!
3) Three (3x) winners will be selected based on our favorite photos which will be based on creativity and functionality of the tool in the post and Two (2x) winners will be chosen using a random number generator (each post will be assigned an ID number to be put into the generator).
4) Rules: Max 1x tool per person. Open to Domestic and International. Close date on giveaway will be November 30th (Two days from today). Winners will be announced on all our social channels @GearInfusion (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter) and here in the next update.

Carry Case/Quick Release (New)
One of the top comments from the survey was to get a carry case for EverRatchet and a way to more easily remove it from your keys. We are doing two things here:
1) Carry case. I have been working with a local company on this and we are close to having images we can share. The case itself is made from sport webbing, has a pocket for the tool, an elastic pocket to hold an additional bit/flint, will shut with either magnets or velcro and has a heavy duty tactical clip to attach it to your keys, pant loop, purse or backpack.
2) Quick Release. I am working with a company on a magnetic quick release for EverRatchet so you can more easily remove it from your keys. I am expecting to have these Jan/Feb of 2019 at our website. I'll post an update here once these are available.
Updated Packaging Inbound (New)
I have been working on some new packaging which will reduce the amount of plastic used by 95%. The machine needed to seal the new packaging has arrived and we are expecting final proofs of the card and small plastc piece tomorrow. I will share images of the new packaging here in the next update.

There are a handful of international orders in processing at our fulfillment partner in NY but they will be out the door early next week. Watch for those tracking emails from BackerKit.
For those who have not received your tool yet:
1) Please make sure you have filled out your BackerKit survey, it lets me know what graphics (Original, Hive, Turbulence, Stars) you want on your tools.
2) Where is my BackerKit survey? BackerKit surveys are sent ten (10x) days after you place your order on Indiegogo. This survey will allow you to select your laser graphic (Original, Stars, Turbulence, Hive) and will allow you to add additional EverRatchet tools and some other neat add-ons if you choose.
Custom EverRatchets (Copied from last update)
We ran some larger orders for custom EverRatchets during the campaign, if you are interested in getting groomsman names, corporate logos or a pattern of your own let me know. Our in-house (in my guest bedroom with a 4" exhaust pipe shooting through the wall) industrial laser can etch in extremely fine detail!
Flint2Go Suggested Use (Copied from last update)
Below are our suggested steps for using your Flint2Go camping flints (I should have but I did not include instructions on the EverRatchet packaging, only the Flint2Go 3x Flint Packaging). If you are not familiar with flints and how they operate, these steps should help get you going. Most certainly make sure you are in a safe/appropriate location prior to using.
1) Pile dry kindling in a wind-free location
2) Remove the black exterior coating by scraping it with a metal object
3) Scrape the bare flint to add a small pile of shavings to the kindling
4) Place the flint on a hard surface near the flint shavings/kindling
5) Apply pressure to the top of the flint with a sharp metal object and
strike in the direction of the flint shavings/kindling
6) Once an ember is visible, lightly blow air on the kindling until lit
7) Continue to add kindling to retain fire
